Our first product
Vegetable chips coming soon to SUA cafeterias
Made from carrots, parsley, celery and beetroot
We produce vegetable chips using an innovative drying technology that allows us to preserve all the nutritional values of fresh vegetables without unnecessary chemical additives.
Maximum vitamins, minerals and fibre
The drying process ensures that the chips are full of flavour and crunch while retaining maximum vitamins, minerals and fibre.
Low in fat and salt
We use only a small amount of salt and olive oil in the production process, which makes these chips an ideal alternative to regular salty snacks. Low in fat and salt, these vegetable chips are not only nutritious but also kind to your health.

Meet the Food Incubator
The Food Incubator operates as a spin-off company of the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra (SUA).
Our company, Potravinový inkubátor SPU v Nitre, s. r. o. , was set up as part of a Structural Funds project to support long-term strategic research in the field of healthy food and the environment.
The project “Demand-driven research for sustainable and innovative food, Drive4SIFood” is at the heart of our innovations.
The Food Incubator was approved as a food production facility by the Regional Office of Public Health in Nitra on 16 April 2024.

Our goal
Bringing new, innovative and sustainable food
Our goal is to commercialize products, ideas and processes with an emphasis on the research and development of plant-based food products. We have the ambition to deliver new, innovative and sustainable food. In the near future, our products will be distributed to students and staff of the university through the university cafeterias.
What have we been through?
2021-22
Market analysis and consumer preferences
- We focused on consumer studies that helped us to determine consumers' current interest in healthy eating.
- These studies have provided us with valuable information on consumer preferences and behaviour, enabling us to effectively identify the target group and acceptance of our products.
- Based on these results, we have decided to continue developing innovative foods that meet the current needs of the market.
The products were presented as pilot products, which allowed us to get feedback directly from consumers.
2022-23
Creation of an action plan and development of first products
- Based on the data we collected, we created a Food Incubator Action Plan for the development of innovative vegan food products.
- This plan involved a comprehensive approach to product creation, from research and development to prototype testing.
In November 2023, we introduced our first prototype of vegetable chips, which became a key product for further development.
2023-24
Optimisation and technological innovation
- In the following months, we focused on optimising the technological process so that our products are low in fat, high in fibre and unsaturated fatty acids.
- This process has ensured that our chips are not only tasty but also healthy.
In April 2024, the operation of the Food Incubator was approved, allowing us to officially begin production and distribution of our products.
2024
Challenger Science and product launches
- Autumn this year is very crucial for us. We actively participate in the Challenger Science education program, which moves us towards bringing our products to market.
- Thanks to the programme, we identified the target group, commercial potential, set up a business model and financial plan. We are currently applying for a utility model for the technological process of producing vegetable chips and completing the infrastructure.
Thanks to the program, we are ready to launch our first product in February 2025 in the university cafeteria and establish collaborations with the public and private sectors.

The Food Incubator is staffed by a team of scientific researchers with interdisciplinary backgrounds who are able to effectively combine theory and practice. Each of us contributes our expertise to bring innovation to healthy food.

An expert in the field of nutritional and biological value of food, food technology and new food development, focusing on healthy and nutritious alternatives.
Expert in biotechnology and consumer health. It focuses on the action and use of phytonutrients in the protection and maintenance of health, as well as in the prevention of civilisation diseases.
An expert in sensory analysis, food technology and new food development, she tests and optimises the flavours of our products.
Expert in food technology and new food development, focusing on innovative solutions and improving production processes.
